Scherzer Gemüse, a German company that produces fresh vegetables using sustainable methods, recently constructed the largest and most advanced greenhouse for leafy vegetables in Germany. The greenhouse, located in Dinkelsbühl, spans over 50,000 square meters and features a fully automated growing system for lettuce and herbs build by Green Production Systems.
The hydroponic system is ultra-sustainable, using biological pest control and waste heat from a nearby biomass power plant to heat the greenhouses. Thanks to this innovative approach, Scherzer Gemüse is able to supply fresh leafy vegetables to the German food retail sector throughout the year.
